Schmidt Marine Technology Partners is currently supporting the SMART initiative via its award entitled "Advancing SMART Cables" in the following two ways:

1. More fully support the SMART International Project Office to achieve SMART cables becoming the world standard, leading to a global network for sustained ocean observation, for the study of earthquakes, and earthquake and tsunami warning in a world with rising sea levels.

2. Further develop SMART repeater module technology. The funding will support Subsea Data Systems as it continues their on-going development work.
